Every week this month, I pulled a card for the collective. One at the beginning of each week, plus two weekend pulls. Each card was meant to be a small message about the week’s energy, a little guidance to carry with us.
After laying them all out at the end of the month, I noticed that when put together, they told a clear story: conflict, awakening, hope, victory, and completion.
The story they told resonated with me and what I was experiencing in my life each week. And maybe it resonated with you too.
The cards I’m sharing here for reference are sneak peeks from my own deck that I’ve created (which will be on the market soon), and not the deck that I pulled from. However, the meanings and messages are the same.
Here’s how the story of October unfolded, one card at a time.
The Five of Swords: Conflict
The month opened with the Five of Swords, a card of conflict. Not the physical type of conflict, but the mental kind: tension with someone else, the battle within your own thoughts, or clashes in communication.
It’s the card of stirring over something in your mind, replaying situations, or doubting the choices you have made. It can also signify a hollow victory: succeeding at something you thought would feel satisfying, only to be left feeling a void.
With Venus turning retrograde at the beginning of the month, this mental battle could have shown up as a time of re-evaluating your values, what you truly desire, what you’re attracted to, or how you show up in your relationships.
For me, doubt and conflicting thoughts crept into almost every corner of my life: love, friendships, work, travel, even my riding. I was rethinking, replaying, and second-guessing many choices in front of me.
Sometimes we feel friction, overthink, or have to reflect on things before we can see what’s ready to shift in our lives. The Five of Swords can be a reminder to lay down our swords and be a little gentler with ourselves and others.
Judgement: The Awakening
That first weekend, Judgement appeared. On the card, an angel sounds a trumpet and a woman rises to answer the call. It’s the card of awakening, rebirth, and enlightenment: a moment when you wake up to a new perspective.
Judgement asks you to reflect honestly on where you’ve been, forgive yourself for the past, and listen to what’s calling your soul forward. It often arrives when a decision is ready to be made, not out of fear or doubt, but from a deeper inner knowing.
The New Moon in Libra also arrived that weekend, a time for fresh starts in relationships, and for seeking balance, fairness, and harmony. Perhaps the energy of the moon and the Judgement card led to a resolution to the conflict you were having.
It did for me. It came as a moment of clarity about what I value in relationships, creating boundaries in friendships, and setting new intentions around the agreements I make.
Most of the time, the answer we are looking for is there all along. All we have to do is settle our minds long enough to hear it.
The Star: Healing and Hope
Then came The Star, not once, but twice. I had decided not to pull a card for the second weekend, because I felt the energy of The Star was still very much alive.
So when I pulled a new card for the third week, it confirmed exactly what I had sensed. The Star reappeared!
The Star reminds you that you are guided, and that when you connect your inner light to Source, you can tap into your own inner guidance and healing. It invites you to believe in what’s possible, to trust the universe, and to hold hope in your heart. It’s the calm after the storm.
With this card also came the message of manifestation. I was seeing 11:11, 111, and 11 — for those whole two weeks — as constant nudges to be intentional with what I wanted to manifest. The Star is connected to Aquarian energy and ties to “making a wish upon a star.” It’s about putting your hopes and dreams out into the universe and trusting that what is meant for you will find you.
In my world, I was hopeful about an upcoming conversation about my role in a new position, as well as a new connection I had made through friends. The weeks of The Star card were alive, full of potential, inspiration, and hope for the future. I was also healing parts of myself that I had realized were stuck patterns of thinking and feeling, releasing myself from those chains with new perspectives.
When a card appears twice, it reaffirms how important the message is. The Star’s message was loud and clear: keep the faith, and let yourself heal so you can manifest what you truly want.
The Six of Wands: The Victory
On the third weekend, the Six of Wands arrived. On the card, a rider on a white horse carries a wand while a crowd gathers around in celebration. It’s the card of victory, success, and public recognition, especially after struggle or hard work.
The Six of Wands reminds you to celebrate your wins, however big or small, to honour how far you’ve come, and the effort it took you to get there. It invites you to be seen, recognized for your success, and to shine in the spotlight for a moment and enjoy the win!
That same weekend, Venus met the Sun at the very heart of her retrograde, a moment of clarity in love and values. And on that Saturday, Mercury, the planet of communication, turned retrograde, providing you with the perfect energy for revisiting conversations and reassessing plans.
Fittingly, the conversation about my work went beautifully as we revisited our plans and discussed financials. It felt like such a relief. That evening, I shared a lovely night out with a new person in my life and could enjoy it for what it was. No expectations or ideals. Just enjoying the moment. Both were wins for me.
I also chose not to attend a horse show that weekend, which was a relief in itself, and all my friends came home winners! It reminded me that victory doesn’t always mean being in the spotlight. Sometimes it’s choosing what feels right for you, and celebrating the people you love as they shine.
Success can look like so many different things: a positive change of mind, a new job, a new relationship, or winning a competition. Perhaps whatever you opened up to with Judgement led to a victory of your own.
Whatever your win, I hope you let it light you up!
The World: Completion
In the final week, The World showed up: the last card of the Major Arcana. On the card, a woman dances above a laurel wreath, held in balance. It’s a card of completion, wholeness, and fulfillment: a cycle coming full circle.
The World reminds you to honour everything you’ve been through to arrive where you are now, at a point in time that feels complete. Like a chapter closing. Every lesson, every challenge, every moment of growth has led you to this point. It’s an invitation to step into something new. As one door closes, another opens.
It can also signal world travel and expansion: the whole world is opening up to you!
The Full Moon in Taurus also arrived on the very same day I pulled this card. Full moons mark culmination and release, and Taurus brings a focus on self-worth, security, and what we truly value. Venus had just slipped back into Libra, her home sign of partnership and harmony, inviting us to reflect on the relationships that feel truly aligned.
In my life, so much came full circle. I stepped fully into tarot and storytelling, loving my weekly card pulls and the joy of writing letters like this one. I allowed myself to simply enjoy someone’s company without expectation of where it might go. And in that openness, my heart became clear about what it truly wants. My travel plans fell into place, and my dream trip came back around to what I had originally envisioned. Everything from the month felt complete for me. Full circle.
After a full month of readings, the conflict, awakening, healing, and victory, The World felt like the most magickal card to pull. A final exhale before shifting into new energy.
As this month comes to a close, we move into a new one. New energy. New cards. New messages to guide us along the way.
I’ll be doing the same thing in November: pulling a card each week to tap into the energy and messages that want to come through.
And fittingly, after pulling The World, I’m excited to say that in the second half of the month, I’ll be reading the cards and writing from another part of the world: Spain. 🌍✨
How did October unfold for you? Did any of these cards speak to your own story? I’d love to hear all about it.
With love. ♥︎
